It has been my distinct pleasure to have been invited to Japan twice to teach tatting classes. My first visit was in 2010. I had five classes in four cities, Akita, Tokyo, Nagoya and Kyoto, traveling approximately 1,300 miles by bullet train in eleven days. My second trip in 2014, I had four classes in nine days, this time I did not go to Akita. Both trips as wonderful as they are, are very physically demanding. These trips are documented in my Blog. Also on my second trip I was joined the last day by my husband, who had never been to Japan. We traveled an additional 10 days and 1.500 miles to the southern city of Kumamoto to see family relatives.

Penny Purse On my first trip I taught a small coin purse pattern. The purses on the left were the variations I bought to Japan as examples. Click HERE for pattern. I did a butterfly pattern for my second trip. That pattern will be released in the IOLI bulletin in 2015 and here after a class I have in April. |
